So you got engaged? NOW WHAT?
Though I’ve been lucky to have gotten engaged around the same time as a lot of my friends, it seems every one of us is on a different timeline and have different views on what should or should not happen and when.
I know some people who go from engagement to wedding, hitting all the milestones on the dot, within a year, and then I also know people who opt out of certain aspects, like the engagement party, all together and immediately set their sights on the wedding, sending out a wedding invite within months of the engagement.
With all the engagement and wedding excitement, it can be hard to know what step to take next. Truly the best advice I can offer is to just take a step back, assess where you are at as a couple and don’t feel pressured to hit the traditional timeline marks. Also, talk to your friends! If you know people who are getting engaged and going through the same process as you, talk to them about what to do and what they thought about everything.
When we first got engaged, I was pretty set on the idea of an engagement party, but now, after seeing some of my friends decide not to have one and even hearing of others say it was maybe unnecessary, or even something they might not have done in retrospect, I am really on the fence.
While engagement parties are a traditional party, the truth is you don’t need one and more and more people are choosing not to have one. And whether you decide to or not, figuring out where to go next can always be hard. If you’re stuck trying to figure out what to do next for planning, try taking this adorable and fun quiz by WeddingWire!
They’ll ask you questions to get a sense of where you’re at and then deliver a result of what you should do next!
This may not be the most scientifically driven quiz ever, but for someone like me who overthinks EVERYTHING, it was a fun and cute little tool to guide me through some of the things I could be doing, but then giving me definitive direction on what to do. Sometimes you just need someone to tell you what to do when you’re overwhelmed, ok!?
Anyway, I hope you’re wedding planning is going as smoothly as possible and if you are stumped, check out their quiz here!
