This past weekend my fiancé and I had the pleasure of brunching at Petrossian West Hollywood, and I must say, it was an absolutely incredible experience! Petrossian is an ‘upscale French cafe and market known for its caviar, serving breakfast-to-dinner fare & Sunday brunch.’ Though I have been to many many brunches in LA, after this Sunday, Petrossian is definitely one of my favorite spots.
This lovely restaurant has become an instant favorite of mine for a couple reasons. First, the service is impeccable, they are incredibly attentive and keen on making sure you have everything you need, and everyone seemed genuinely relaxed and happy; it felt very welcoming. Second, the ambiance is relaxing and ethereal. The predominately white interior has fantastic soft natural lighting that fills the rooms with cozy morning vibes as melodious easy-like-Sunday-morning music plays in the background… and despite the restaurant being quite full, it was not at all loud (a major deal breaker for my fiancé and I). It feels like a place you can take time to luxuriously enjoy your morning and meal.
Perhaps more importantly, however, is the food. Not a single dish failed to impress us. Both my fiancé and I decided to get the Signature Brunch. We got one of each of the second and dessert options and he got a Bloody Mary and I had a Lavender Mimosa.
This is a great option because it gives you a taste of some of their most amazing dishes. The first thing to arrive is the Petite Petrossian, a small round case of caviar served with creme fraiche and blinis. I highly recommend trying this as they are known for their caviar and this amuse-bouche truly highlights the delicacy. Second, we received the Caviar Scrambled Eggs and the Smoked Salmon with toast. The Caviar Scrambled Eggs is their quintessential and ‘Instagramable’ brunch dish, and it is sooo good. The eggs are creamy and buttery and the caviar mixes in to give the dish a pop of saltiness. The caviar addition to the eggs truly elevates this breakfast classic; simple but delicious. The Salmon was also absolutely amazing. My fiancé, who’s is a major foodie, would not stop taking about how much he loved it. After every bite he mentioned how good it was, and he’s not even much of a salmon person!
Lastly comes the dessert, both were amazing but if I had to choose, the Vanilla Panna Cotta takes the cake (see what I did there). It was one of the most heavenly panna cottas I have ever tried, the flavor was remarkable. A rich creamy custard with a warm vanilla flavor, toped with rasberries, whipped cream and wafer cookies. The Dark Chocolate Ganache is also quite decadent and is topped with candied orange peel and chocolate caviar. Yum!
And of course, I must mention the lavender mimosa. If you have never had a lavender mimosa, I highly suggest you try one immediately. They are my absolute favorite brunch beverage… Champagne and lavender, what’s not to love? Petrossian’s is absolutely divine and definitely one of the top reasons this is now my favorite brunch spot in LA.
Though I am not a caviar connoisseur and may not be the most familiar with it, I do enjoy the delicacy when given the option. Pettrosian is not only great for those who love caviar but also those who may not be as familiar. Their dishes make it easy to enjoy the delicacy while giving you the opportunity to try it in new ways, like in scrambled eggs. They also have a caviar flight, which I found to be a fun exploration of caviar flavors. We sampled the flight and tasted notes from nutty, to buttery, to tangy. If you are new to caviar or an adventurous foodie, the caviar flight is a must.
Petrossian is a fantastic restaurant and I highly recommend it for a luxurious Sunday brunch. Personally, I can’t imagine a better brunch date spot. Thank you so much Petrossian, Hilary and Chef Carlos for the lovely experience, I can’t wait to come back and try dinner!
