There is something very special about the first designer bag you purchase entirely by yourself. A sense of accomplishment, pride, love and appreciation comes with spending money you worked for on something you want. It’s the satisfaction of being self reliant and the accomplishment of being independent in a grand gesture to yourself. You can look down at the bag and say ‘I did this, this was me. Only me’. Truly it is a level of success I have personally hoped to attain my whole life. And it feels great. Greater (different at least) than my boyfriend buying me a bag.
I knew that the first designer bag I was going to buy for myself had to be something special. Something that made the experience memorable. I settled on a bag that I have never seen any one else carry. I didn’t want the bag to be something I saw others with, I wanted it to be special, to be mine. Because I was pretty set on the Gucci Marmont bag (and this is an incredibly popular bag) I ended up getting a design that not everyone has. I didn’t want something basic you see every other girl on Instagram with, so, my bag ended up being quite elaborate. ‘Maybe too elaborate…’ I worried when buying it. But, to me it is and will always be special, so ‘too elaborate’ will always be a positive reminder of my very first independent designer bag purchase.
I settled on the Gucci GG Marmont Mini Embroidered Velvet Chain Shoulder Bag in teal blue velvet with stunning bead work florals and bees. I have always thought blue velvet was particularly romantic, so this was why I choose this color. The bag is truly a dream and sparkles like the night sky ( … it’s really sparkly).
Thank you for reading this post and allowing me to share such a special accomplishment with you! Please share below what your first designer bag was, (Or what the first bag you hope to purchase will be!) I’d love to know!
(* To clarify, no this is not my first designer bag in general, but it is the first I have bought for myself 🙂 )
