New York City – The City that Never Sleeps, the Big Apple, the Center of the Universe – whatever you choose to call it, New York is truly a city unlike any other. The hustle and bustle alone is a level of excitement that, as a California native where we have 0 urgency, I find exhilarating, contagious and overwhelming (in a good way) all at once!
I was lucky enough to be included for the launch of DevaCurl’s new hair masks for which they invited me to New York to celebrate! We spent 3 days attending events and exploring the city. It was truly a memorable experience being in such a fun city with some of my most amazing curl-friends. If you want to see my full review of these amazing masks click here. They are actually my favorite curly hair masks ever!
I stayed at both The Howard and The Standard – High Line durning my trip. The Howard is an amazing boutique hotel in SoHo that is on a block between Glossier and Reformation (two of my favorite shops!), across the street from the Smile Cafe, and has the NICEST staff you will ever meet. They also have a very high tech system – your name is on an iPad in your room when you arrive and yours to order anything you might need. I stayed on the 9th floor with a street view and thought my room was amazing. I would highly recommend this hotel for a low key NY stay.
On the other had there was The Standard, a lively hotel that was all the rage! Literally the city’s hottest night club, Le Bain, is located on the hotel’s first floor. When we got back from diner, there was a line around the hotel corner to get in! The hotel itself though is absolutely wonderful, I’m so glad we spent the weekend there. We went to its roof top bar, The Top of the Standard, for a miraculous view of the city accompanied by live music and martinis (get the passion fruit one, it’s so good!!). It’s also close to a lot of great restaurants like Morimoto, which I highly recommend for upscale sushi, and the Chelsea Market, which really puts this hotel in the middle of the action. If you want an upbeat NY stay, I would highly recommend The Standard for some fun.
I was also lucky enough to shoot the Nordstorms Sale campaign with Ted Baker! Truly one of my favorite campaigns to date, check out some images from the trip below.
